Occupational Therapist

Occupational therapist work closely with you to increase your independence and safety at home, in your learning and work environment and in the community. 

Occupational therapists provide individualised therapy to support you to be able to live and engage in daily tasks that are meaningful and important to you. 

Services offered at Entrust: At Entrust, we work closely with you to develop and achieve goals that are important to you, and those that align with your NDIS goals. These may include:

  • Developing and strengthening of gross motor skills such as jumping, climbing, development of muscle tone and core strengths
  • Developing and strengthening of fine motor skills such as pencil and writing skills, using skills, using buttons and zips. 
  • Independence skills in activities of daily living such as dressing, toileting and mealtime engagement
  • Sensor processing skills by unpacking and learning more about your sensory profile, identifying sensory triggers and creating strategies to support your sensory regulation. 
  • Emotional regulation skills through development of routine and predictable environments to support meaningful engagement in your immediate environment (e.g., home and school).  As well as providing individualised strategies to support your self-regulation and co-regulation (via parental education and upskilling) in less predictable environments (shops, parks, community events etc.). 
  • Building on play and social skills which are fundamental for children’s development as it supports the individual’s engagement in their learning environments through interacting and play with their peers. Using explicit learning to play techniques to guide individuals to be able to meaningfully engage and with others.

Role of occupational therapists

  • Complete functional assessments (formal and informal) to gather information about your capacities. 
  • Create personalised SMART goals and therapy objectives in conjunction to your individual needs, personal interest, and NDIS goals.
  • Create therapy plans based on SMART goals and therapy objectives. 
  • Create, review, and evaluate therapy plan based on your personal strengths, needs and interests.  
  • Prepare letter of recommendation
  • Put in place AHA support (if applicable), and continuously evaluate and review progress. 
  • Complete NDIS reports and advocacy letters

BILLABLES:

Face to face interactions: Any time you as the NDIS participant interact with Entrust Supports therapy team (including occupational therapist and allied health assistants), via in person (face-to face) interactions.

Non-face-to-face interactions: Any time the Entrust Supports therapy team members spend time with you via emails and phone calls; developing, reviewing, and evaluating individualised therapy plans; completing assessments, writing reports (including progress and NDIS plan review reports); purchasing relevant assistive technology on your behalf; conducting meetings with relevant stakeholders, preparing resources to be used for your therapy goals or conducting research directly relevant to you; (and any other therapy related activities based on the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits).

Travel: any time the Entrust Supports therapy team member spends travelling to you at a location of your choosing, including delivery of therapy equipment, parking road tolls and public transport fares (as outlined by the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits).

Last minute cancellations: short notice cancellations of appointments with less than 2 days’ notice including not showing up to the session with/without any notice, or not arriving to the appointment within a reasonable time frame in accordance with the appointment’s start time.

NON-BILLABLES:

Administrative tasks such as invoicing, developing quotes and booking appointments.

We are here to help answer any questions you may have about the NDIS, including eligibility, access, and the support services we offer. Our customer service team is available to assist you Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
